This topical action group focuses on effective leadership. State participants engage in authentic conversations on their effective leadership efforts, share their expertise, successes and challenges, and discuss how to use resources to support scaling and sustainability. This topical action group will focus on leveraging efforts across states, be predominately discussion based, include an expectation of action, and will meet monthly over the next year to collaborate and support state action items.
We hosted our first TAG meeting with a focus on Professional Community for Teachers and Staff and Meaningful Engagement of Families and Community. Our team also recapped our TAG work from the 24-25 school year and described our vision for the 25-26 TAG meetings. Participants had time in cross-state groups to discuss challenges and successes related to these standards. The meeting also highlighted Cathi Davis and her work at Ruby Bridges Elementary in WA.

We hosted our second TAG meeting with a focus on Operations and Management (PSEL 9) and School Improvement (PSEL 10). Participants had time in cross state groups to discuss challenges and successes related to this work. The meeting also highlighted Dr. Elizabeth Casas and her work in Dallas ISD related to School Improvement initiatives.
The meeting served as the kick-off meeting for the TAG workgroup model. The TAG team discussed plans to form two workgroups that will develop practical learning tools to embed in CEEDAR’s Course Enhancement Modules (CEM). Meg Kamman, one of the CEEDAR directors, presented an overview of CEMs and explained their structure, while the group discussed the formation and structure of two work groups focused on different aspects of educational leadership. The two workgroups will be centered around Operations and Management (PSEL Standard 9) and Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment (PSEL Standard 4). The meeting ended with details about the workgroup model, schedule, and resources, including the organization of folders and meeting materials, while emphasizing the collaborative and supportive nature of this topical action group.

The meeting was the second session of the TAG workgroup model. Abby, David, and Chris provided an overview of the goals and approach, emphasizing the creation of actionable resources that integrate into course enhancement modules rather than broad educational topics or special education law. The group discussed the structure of work groups and planned activities for the day, including reviewing existing resources, identifying gaps, and planning revisions or new creations. The conversation ended with instructions for breaking into work groups to continue the resource review and development process.
This meeting was the fourth session of workgroup meetings focused on developing course enhancement modules for preparing future education leaders to support students with disabilities. The team provided an overview of the timeline, noting that the goal is to complete strong drafts of resources to add to CEEDAR’s Course Enhancement Modules by June 11th.

This was our last workgroup meeting of the 25-26 academic year. Workgroups reviewed progress towards the creation of resources and determined what else needs to do asynchronously during the break in order to have completed materials ready by the fall.
