Reform Efforts

  1. Data: Representatives on the NY-CEEDAR State Leadership Team have been working to identify data collection and reporting needs that support Educator Preparation Programs and the NY State Department of Education with identifying graduate preparedness for inclusive school settings. The team also envisions being able to eventually use this data to support recruitment and retention efforts to combat teacher shortages.
  2. Educator Alignment and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS): The New York State Department of Education was awarded a State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG) to ensure local school districts have the knowledge and skill to implement MTSS effectively statewide. The NY-CEEDAR team is collaborating to support faculty at Educator Preparation Programs with aligning their courses to ensure pre-and in-service educators have the knowledge and skill required to implement MTSS effectively.
  3. Local School District and Educator Preparation Program Partnerships: Recent regulations in NY require educator preparation programs to develop high-quality partnerships with local school districts to support inclusive schools. To help educator preparation program faculty develop these high-quality partnerships, team members have created and implemented a survey to educator preparation program faculty to identify exemplar partnerships. The team then plans to use these exemplar partnerships to support the development of a toolkit that can be shared with CEEDAR EPPS that will help educator preparation faculty and local school districts with developing mutually beneficial, high-quality partnerships that supports the needs of all learners within inclusive environments.
