An Eye on ESSA

The recently legislated Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) has implications for state and local education agencies and educator preparation providers. This webinar will address policy implications and opportunities for stakeholders to leverage ESSA requirements to address state needs.

Meg Kamman from CEEDAR, Alex Berg-Jacobson from the Center on Great Teachers and Leaders (GTL), and Johnny Colett from the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) will focus on:

  • Tapping into ESSA funds to support teacher and leader development
  • Strategies for meeting state-specific needs such as teacher shortages
  • Specific elements related to special education teacher credentialing
  • Aligning and leveraging federal requirements (e.g., State Systemic Improvement Plans, Equity Plans) with ongoing state initiatives
