“What is Leadership For?” Professors Leonard Burrello, and Jeannie Kleinhammer-Tramil of the University of South Florida, will address this essential question as they share information about two research-oriented doctoral programs in special education administrative leadership.

The Special Education Administrative Leadership Webinar series provides quarterly opportunities for project directors and faculty from OSEP’s Type B (administrative leadership) projects, as well as other related leadership programs, to offer mutual support and share information across programs. The webinars are supported by the Office of Special Education Programs and the CEEDAR Center, and participation is voluntary.

Burrello and Kleinhammer-Tramill will discuss the range of roles that they have asked doctoral students to explore and the dispositions toward scholarship, morality/ethics, and critical inquiry they have encouraged students to develop as a basis for their practice in any leadership role. They will provide examples of how scholars have engaged throughout their doctoral programs in mentored research, internships, and exploration of philosophies of inquiry as well as questions of practice as they prepare for future roles in central office administration, state or federal policy leadership, or scholarship as future college professors.
